Farmhouse bed and breakfast, award winning B&B on a Devon working farm near Modbury, South of Dartmoor in the South Hams, Devon.

As a real working farm, we are passionate about caring for the countryside and at the same time making the farm a productive business for our family and future generations. We like to share our farming knowledge with guests who wish to learn more about where their food comes from and understand the true meaning of being environmentally sustainable and the real benefits to communities when you buy local.

We farm 380 acres and rear beef and sheep as well as producing fresh eggs from our free range hens. Our walled kitchen garden is always of interest to gardeners and you are very welcome to visit. It provides much of the fruit and vegetables that are served for breakfast. The small surplus is sold locally. Our superb flavoured meat is sold to Gribbles the Butchers in Ivybridge, guests can purchase meat directly from the farm.

We're trying a new venture this year, raising piglets, so watch this space, there might even be pig racing in the future!

Our fields are traditional in character, small and bounded by thick hedges. Part of the ancient field strip system is visible near to the village and fortunately the old hedges have been left undisturbed making them a haven for local wildlife. The hedges are trimmed on a rolling programme every three years; some are allowed to grow for a little longer, we then 'lay' the hedges periodically. This allows the hedgerows to flower and bear fruit or nuts to naturally feed the wildlife.

We believe that these traditional methods of farming will protect the environment for generations to come and we'd like to share our inspiration with you.

Don't forget to bring your wellies for a day of exploration, you are welcome to walk anywhere on the farm to see the animals in the fields, and to look at the ponds and woodland areas. Wildlife abounds - skylarks, buzzards, pheasants and brown hare – have a great day out.

We can provide a picnic if you would like to spend the day here, or walking locally – give the car a break!
